Music Box Workshop with Sadie Woods

Join artist and DJ Sadie Woods in a Music Box Orchestra workshop hosted by Heaven Gallery in partnership with Equity Arts. In this 2-hour workshop, you will create music compositions and play as an ensemble out of a recycled cigar box. To participate in the Music Box Orchestra Workshop, register here on Eventbrite. Supplies are limited and available upon a first come, first serve basis. Open to all ages, no experience necessary.

One music box kit ticket is $35 and includes: 1 unique wood cigar box 1 hand crank music box with screws for installation 1 hole puncher 3 strips of blank sheet music

This event is limited to 10 people. All participants will be required to wear a mask for the duration of the event. -------

Award winning artist Sadie Woods has had an exciting career, showcasing her talents everywhere from academia to nightclubs, boutiques to museums. As a multidisciplinary artist, curator and deejay, Woods' work focuses primarily on social movements and resistance, and producing collaborations within communities of difference. Woods received her BA from Columbia College and MFA from The School of the Art Institute. She is currently Faculty at the School of the Art Institute, Residents Orchestrate Project Manager at the Chicago Sinfonietta, and radio DJ at Vocalo 91.1FM and Lumpen Radio 105.5FM.

Awards and residencies include: 3Arts Make A Wave Grant; 3Arts Artist Projects; Propeller Fund; Magasin—Centre National d'Art Contemporain Curatorial Program, FR; Arts + Public Life Curatorial Collective; Chicago Artists Coalition HATCH Projects Curatorial Residency; City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Events Esteemed Artist Award; Independent Curators International Collaborator, SN; Bemis Center for the Arts Artist-In-Residence; Ragdale Foundation Artist-In-Residence. She has exhibited her work at Chicago Cultural Center; Krasl Art Center, MI; The New Gallery, NC; Weinberg/Newton Gallery, IL. Curatorial projects include The Petty Biennial, and Not In My Name exhibition featured at EXPO art fair. Publications include Harald Szeemann Méthodologie Individuelle published by JRP Ringier with Le Magasin—Centre National d'Art Contemporain de Grenoble, in collaboration with the Department of Curating Contemporary Art, Royal College of Art, London
